One arrest made following back-to-back murders in Marion

State and local law enforcement converged on this home in the Monroe Street neighborhood on Thursday night following the shooting death of Christopher Lewis. That shooting was the first of two murders that have rocked Marion over the last 24 hours.

District Attorney Michael Jackson has released the names of the victims in two murders that occurred in Marion Thursday night and Friday morning, January 5-6. Jackson said the second murder appeared to have been in retaliation to the first one.

The victim in the first shooting was Christopher Lewis. Lewis was shot at around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening during what Jackson described as a robbery incident at an unknown location. Lewis was transported by personal vehicle to Hale County Hospital in Greensboro, where he died.

The second shooting happened at around 4:00 a.m. on Friday morning in the Thompson Street area of Marion. The victim in that shooting was Shaquille Martin. Jackson said law enforcement had arrested Darren Brooks of Marion in connection with that shooting.
