Hale County Hospital’s Hospital Corner

It is Hale County Hospital’s mission to pursue and promote healing, improved health, and improved quality of life of the residents of Hale County and surrounding communities. We are able to pursue our mission by focusing on relationship and community-centered healthcare complemented by programming, activities, and community partnerships that support improved health and quality of life of our neighbors.

The month of March is known for being “Worldwide Kidney Month”, which is a global campaign that functions to focus on spreading awareness of the importance of having healthy kidneys to reduce the amount of kidney related diseases and health issues. Today’s data shows that chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes can play a role in one’s ability to be susceptible to kidney related disorders. Additionally, data notes that African American communities have an increased susceptibility to acquire kidney related diseases.

At Hale County Hospital, we care about the health and wellness of our community and work to provide comprehensive care to each patient. Part of that care includes the wellness of a patient’s kidneys. Although we do not provide dialysis, we have a list of providers within the clinic and at the hospital who work around the clock to help identify a patient’s chronic kidney related diseases. The best way to prevent any kidney related diseases is to perform the following:

  1. Make healthy food choices
  2. Make physical activity part of your routine
  3. Stop smoking
  4. Limit alcohol intake link
  5. Manage diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease

If you have any questions or wish to see a provider, feel free to book an appointment. We would love to explain more about preventative measures to help you and your loved one protect their kidneys.
