Marion man accused of financial exploitation of elderly relative

Anthony Butler has been indicted for financial exploitation of an elderly person, a first-degree felony under Alabama law. The indictment alleges that in or around July 2023, Butler used deception, intimidation, and/or undue influence to exert unauthorized control over the property of Edward Butler, an elderly individual. The value of the property involved exceeds $2,500. Butler was arrested on August 6, 2024, and has since been released on a $20,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for September 20, 2024, at 9:00 AM in the Circuit Court of Perry County.
