Darren Tyrone Brooks Jr., 23, also known by the alias “Dog Face,” has been indicted in Perry County on two counts of capital murder in connection with the January 2023 shooting death of Christopher Warren Lewis. According to court documents, the charges stem from an alleged robbery during which Brooks is accused of using a firearm to fatally shoot Lewis. The incident reportedly occurred during the theft of marijuana. One of the charges alleges that Lewis was killed in the course of a robbery with a deadly weapon, while the second charge states that Lewis was killed while in a vehicle.
The Perry County grand jury returned the indictment in August 2024, and it was filed in circuit court on January 3, 2025. The indictment lists the shooting as taking place on January 5, 2023. Brooks was arrested on January 2, 2025, and is currently being held in jail without bond. The indictment alleges that Brooks acted intentionally in causing Lewis’s death, and the charges carry the potential for the death penalty if Brooks is convicted.
