In the heart of Perry County, a group of compassionate citizens has come together to make a difference in the lives of stray dogs and cats. Known as Pawsitive Hearts of Perry County, this newly formed organization is dedicated to controlling the stray animal population while ensuring these animals receive the care and love they deserve.
The issue of stray animals has been a growing concern in Perry County, with many dogs and cats left to fend for themselves without proper shelter, food, or medical attention. Recognizing the need for action, the members of Pawsitive Hearts decided to pool their resources, time, and energy to create a support network for these vulnerable animals.
The group’s primary goal is to provide a safe haven for stray animals while they await adoption into permanent homes. To achieve this, Pawsitive Hearts of Perry County is working to secure a building that can serve as a shelter and foster care facility. This space would allow volunteers to house and care for stray dogs and cats, ensuring they are healthy, well-fed, and prepared for their new families.
To help cover the costs of veterinary care, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and food, Pawsitive Hearts is organizing several fundraisers in the coming months.
These events will not only raise much-needed funds, but also increase community awareness about the importance of animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
The success of Pawsitive Hearts of Perry County relies heavily on the support of the local community. There are several ways to get involved:
- Volunteer your time: Help with feeding, grooming, and caring for the animals or assist at fundraising events.
- Donate funds or supplies: Every dollar goes toward vet bills, food, and shelter supplies. Contributions of pet food, bedding, and cleaning products are also greatly appreciated.
- Foster or adopt: Provide a temporary or permanent home for a dog or cat in need.
Together, the citizens of Perry County are proving that a united community can create a brighter future for stray animals. With the love and dedication of Pawsitive Hearts of Perry County, these once-forgotten dogs and cats are on the path to finding their forever homes.
Pawsitive Hearts of Perry County’s Inaugural Mardi Gras Fundraiser Ball will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Marion Art Center. Tickets are $50 per person and all proceeds benefit the group’s goal of helping homeless animals in and around Perry County find forever homes.
