Hubert Lee Smith, 98 of Linden, AL went to his eternal home on July 6, 2023. He was born on June 1, 1925 in Greensboro, AL to Luther Whitfield Smith and Lucy Lavonia Williams Smith. He was a veteran and a Papermill Maintenance Foreman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Era Angele Smith Arrington, Grote Whitfield Smith, James Garland Smith, Annie Marie “Ree” Smith Rhodes, Levi Boyd Smith, William “Bill” Hobson Smith, Sara Nell Smith, and Hoover Blake Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Moore Smith; his son, Byron Lee Smith of Linden, his daughters: Nedra Smith McMullin (Roy) of Montgomery, AL, and Tina Smith Whitfield (Craig) of Linden, AL. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Matthew Ryan McMullin, Nathan Whitlee McMullin, Corey Laine McMullin, Colton Thomas Baugh, and Ashton Connor Baugh as well as his nine great-grandchildren: Evan Matthew McMullin, Clayton Davis McMullin, Hubert Randolph “Hugh” McMullin, Eliza Stone McMullin, Mary Lauren McMullin, John Whitlee McMullin, Riggins Smith McMullin, Annalee Grace Baugh, and Cameron Elizabeth Baugh.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Mt. Hermon Methodist Church with Minister Paul Guy officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Greensboro Chapel directing. Interment followed at the Mt. Hermon Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Matt McMullin, Nathan McMullin, Colton Baugh, Ashton Baugh, Dalton Guy, and Jacob Dunn. Honorary pallbearer is Corey Laine McMullin.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Mt. Hermon Methodist Church or to Linden Methodist Church.
