Mrs. Essie Bell Moore, affectionately known as “Ms. Essie,” was born on December 12, 1934, and passed away on August 13, 2024, at the age of 89.
Ms. Essie Bell Moore was born in Marion, Alabama, to the late Kathy Lee Moore. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Ms. Moore was a strong matriarch to her family and community, always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether serving as a seamstress, cook, choir leader, or performing missionary work, her presence made an impact and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ms. Essie Mae Bell Moore was preceded in death by her mother, Kathy Lee Moore; her sister, Mary Shine; her brothers, Eddie and Willie Moore; her lifelong partner, Mr. David Smith; and their sons, Lorenzo, Carl, and Reverend Darryl Moore.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted son, Darnell (Dr. Mariel Moore); two sistersin-law, Gracie Allen and Ada Williams; her daughter-in-law, Irish Moore; her faithful niece, Dorothy Jean Ryans; twelve grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Public viewing was held on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Agnew Funeral Home, located at 1110 Baptist Hill, Greensboro, AL 36744.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 12:30 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, located at 4209 AL-14, Greensboro, AL. Pastor Calvin Johnson officiated the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
