The City of Marion has lifted the boil water notice issued on September 17 after water samples tested clear of contaminants. The Marion Water and Sewer Department announced on Friday, September 20, that repairs had been made to the water facility. However, it was expected to take 48- 60 hours for chlorine levels to stabilize and meet the required safety standards.
Testing was conducted at several locations throughout Marion, and all samples returned negative results for total coliform and E. coli:
MMI Cafeteria: CLEAR – Negative for total coliform, Negative for E. coli.
Lottie’s Restaurant: CLEAR – Negative for total coliform, Negative for E. coli.
302 Davis St.: CLEAR – Negative for total coliform, Negative for E. coli.
610 East St.: CLEAR – Negative for total coliform, Negative for E. coli.
Whillard’s BBQ: CLEAR – Negative for total coliform, Negative for E. coli.
Following these clear results, confirmed by scientists at Pace Labs, the city officially lifted the boil water advisory on Monday, September 23. The city thanked residents for their patience during the advisory and assured the public that water quality will continue to be monitored closely.
