A 20-year-old Marion resident, Jamai Danae Jackson, was arrested on October 22 and is facing multiple felony charges in Perry County. The charges stem from an incident on October 19, during which Jackson allegedly discharged a firearm into an occupied residence and shot a family member.
According to the complaint filed with the District Court of Perry County, Jackson is accused of firing a Glock .40 into a home located on Lincoln Park Road, Marion, Alabama. The residence was occupied at the time of the shooting. The complaint also states that Jackson caused significant property damage by shooting a bullet through a glass window and into a wall of the home, with damages exceeding $2,500.
Additionally, Jackson has been charged with firstdegree domestic violence assault. She is accused of shooting a relative in the chest during the same incident, after which she reportedly fled the scene. The victim survived the shooting.
Jackson faces charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied building, firstdegree criminal mischief, and first-degree domestic violence assault. Her bond was set at $77,500.
Court records indicate the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
