Lillie Mae Griffin

Lillie Mae Griffin, 82, of Greensboro, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Born on October 1, 1942, in Carrollton, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Deacon Clifford J. Griffin and Sis. Alice M. Griffin.

Lillie gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Aliceville, Alabama. Later in life, she joined Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro, Alabama. She was educated in the Pickens and Hale County school systems, graduating from Hale County Training School in 1959. Lillie pursued higher education at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama.

After her studies, she relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she worked for many years as a government employee. Upon retirement, Lillie returned to Greensboro, where she remained a devoted member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Known for her kindheartedness, she consistently reached out to the sick and shut-in, offering them comfort and encouragement. Lillie enjoyed quilting, crafting, and gardening in her spare time.

Lillie is survived by her loving and devoted sister, Annie Griffin Hill of Greensboro, Alabama; two nieces, Kimberly (Darryle) Evans of Greensboro and Alicia Hill of Birmingham, Alabama; two great-nieces, Zakiya and Mykayla Sample of Greensboro, Alabama; a favorite cousin, Julia Bell of Greensboro, Alabama; her dear friend and classmate, Yvonne Johnson of Greensboro, Alabama; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her best friend, Thelma Brown.

Funeral services for Lillie Mae Griffin were held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at noon at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro, Alabama. Rev. Eugene Lyles Jr., Associate Pastor and Pulpit Conductor, and Father Manuel Williams, C.R., officiated the service.
