Michael Thomas Morrison passed away February 27, 2026, at the age of 74. He was born March 12, 1951, to the late Thomas Jefferson Morrison and Ollie Mae Fuqua Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lester Brewer, and sister-in-law, Cindy Morrison.
He is survived by his son, Scott (Angela) Morrison; grandchildren, Emily Morrison and Andrew Morrison; former wife, Gloria Morrison, and her children, DeAnna (James McLeod) Smith and Christofer (Michele) Smith, along with a host of grandchildren who remained a cherished part of his extended family; sister, Nancy Brewer; brothers, Randall Morrison and Timothy (Jelena) Morrison; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Sue Z, Sergeant Brown, Bobbie, and a host of other dogs.
Michael was a devout Christian who faithfully lived his beliefs each day and was a long-time member of Marion Church of God, where he found great joy in worship, fellowship, and service to others.
From a young age, Michael embraced the values instilled in him by his family. He began working in the family logging business under the guidance of his beloved father, T.J. Morrison. This early experience not only shaped his work ethic but also created bonds that he cherished throughout his life.
His career as a truck driver spanned decades, leading him from the family business to driving for Taylor Made Transportation, where he was known for his reliability and dedication until his well-deserved retirement in 2016.
Michael’s passion for his work paralleled his affection for his dogs. With an unwavering commitment, he devoted his free time to taking care of his beloved pets, whose presence brought him immense joy and companionship. Their playful antics and loyal nature were a source of comfort and happiness, which he cherished deeply.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Waycross Bible Methodist Church in Marion, with the Rev. Mike Chandler officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing. Interment followed in the church graveyard.
Visitation began at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service.
Pallbearers were Scott Morrison, Pierce Talley, Christofer Smith, James McLeod, Jameson McLeod, Dawson McLeod, and Grayson McLeod.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Hale, Bradley Rudd, and Leigh Lecroy.
