Francis Marion’s Running Rams Start Spring Strong

The Francis Marion Track and Field team (The Running Rams) competed at their first track meet for the Spring of 2022 at the Huffman High School Taxx Invitational 2022. The girls team placed 5th out of 11 teams. The boys team placed 4th out of 11 teams. 

Jamecia Hurt placed 3rd in the girls high jump. Deldrick Shelton placed 1st in the boys high jump. The girls 4×100 meter relay team placed 3rd. The girls 4×100 meter relay team consisted of Antashay Wilson, Elanna Lewis, Ke’Lashia Shelton, and Asia Clemons. Kristalyn Steadman placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles. Le’Naya Essex placed 2nd in the 800 meter run (set a new school record at 2:41). The boys and girls 4×400 meter relay team both placed 3rd. The girls 4×400 meter relay team consisted of Le’Naya Essex, Tamya Evans, Jamecia Hurt, and Kristalyn Steadman. The boys 4×400 meter relay team consisted of Deldrick Shelton, Devon Mayhand, Ar’Jzon Jones, and Javion Davis. Lionel Hinton placed 1st in the boys discus.

The Running Rams, thanks to a generous donor, were able to compete in the javelin for the first time in the history of the school. Lionel Hinton placed second in the boys javelin in the school’s javelin debut.
