Hale County Hospital’s Hospital Corner

Interview with Dr. Price

Q: Hello Dr. Price! Please introduce yourself and tell us where you are from and where you work at HCH?

A: My name is Dr. Price I am originally from Arley, Alabama. I work in the Greensboro Clinic and in the Inpatient and Emergency Department at Hale County Hospital. I see patients of all ages from pediatric to the elderly population and enjoy working with all age groups!

Q: What inspired you to become a physician?

A: I shadowed my hometown physician while in college. He was also a rural small town physician and worked in a clinic. After seeing the first patient I was hooked. I really liked the long term relationship building with patients and following care over time.

Q: What was your road to becoming a physician?

A: After graduating high school, I started at UAB in Birmingham where I spent four years earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After this, I spent time in the Rural Medical Scholars Program and spent a year after college working on a Masters of Science at the University of Alabama and learned a lot about rural medicine. After finishing at UA, I began studying medicine at Heersink School of Medicine at UAB. I spent three years in the UA Family Medicine Residency Program and in my last year I was chief resident.

Q: Why did you decide to work in a rural setting and specifically in Hale County?

A: While in my residency program, I connected with Dr. Bonds and I came down to HCH to complete a rotation and really felt drawn to Greensboro. I enjoyed the small town feel, connecting with the people of Hale County and immediately felt like I was at home and reminded me of my own hometown in Arley where I grew up.

Q: Do you have any hobbies?

A: In my spare time I like to cook and I grow my own herb garden and fresh vegetables which I love to utilize in my recipes. My wife and I have a camper and really enjoy exploring the outdoors with our two dogs, Fisher and Bella.

Q: What is one thing you are excited to try in Greensboro?

A: I am excited to try all the flavors of pie offered at The Stable made by Greensboro Pie. So far my favorite flavor has been the Peanut Butter Cream Pie.
