FMS Track’s Jamarian Essex keeps getting faster

Jamarian Essex of Francis Marion School ended the 2022 season with a personal record of 22:14 on the 5K (3.1 mile) race. He started off the 2023 season with a PR of 21:22 after many miles under his belt this Summer and Fall. He didn’t stop there though. This past weekend, on October 21st at Sokol Park in Tuscaloosa, he set another personal record by one minute and twelve seconds finishing at 20:10. That time ranks him 13th out of the 60 runners in the 1A/2A Section 1 going into his sectionals meet on November 2nd. FMS Track Coach John Bolding says he expects him to easily qualify for state on November 2nd for his first time in his running career.
