Perry County Historical and Preservation Society awards Eleanor Drake memorial scholarships on Thursday, April 18

The Perry County Historical and Preservation Society has scheduled the Eleanor C. Drake Memorial Scholarship Awards Presentation for Thursday, April 18, at 6:00 pm. The event, which recognizes the scholarly achievements of Perry County high school seniors, will take place at the historic Marion Female Seminary on 202 Monroe Street in Marion.

This year’s presentation continues to honor the memory of Eleanor Compton Drake, a cherished local historian and dedicated board member of the PCHPS for nearly five decades. Her passion for history and tireless efforts in preservation have significantly influenced the Society’s ongoing work.

The scholarship recipients, chosen for their commitment to the study of history and the preservation of Perry County’s cultural legacy, will be formally recognized at the event.

Following the awards presentation, the Society will host an ice cream social, which is free to attend. Teachers, parents, siblings, friends, and community members are invited to come help the honorees celebrate their accomplishments. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to RSVP and can find further details about the Society’s efforts and the scholarship program at: www.perrycountyhistoricalsociety.org.
