FMS celebrates end of ACAP testing, two scholarships for Powell

Fourth through eighth grade students at Francis Marion School enjoyed a cool treat on a warm Spring afternoon following the completion of their ACAP testing on Monday, April 22. A Kona Shaved Ice truck arrived on campus to give students the chance to craft their own sweet iced treats.

The Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) is administered to students in Alabama from second through eighth grade to generally assess school performance, both individually, and throughout their districts. ACAP provides educational leaders with information on mastery of basic subjects such as English, language arts, mathematics, and science. In particular, this testing indicates which schools, districts, students, or subjects need more academic support.

Spring Picture Day will be at Francis Marion School this Friday, April 26. Be sure to bring your best smile for the camera.

The Francis Marion Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently made an impressive showing at the LifeSmarts convention at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina in California. Martaja Powell won two scholarships while at the event. The first was for $500 when Powell secured the highest score in the Health & Safety Individual Competition. Powell also earned a scholarship for $1,000 for her essay on the subject of identity theft.
