Court records indicate that a Marion man has been charged with attempted murder in an alleged shooting incident that police say took place six years ago.
Octavius Childs, 29, of Marion, was arrested on June 2, 2025, in connection with a 2019 shooting incident and has been charged with attempted murder. According to court records, the original offense occurred on January 14, 2019, at a residence on Lee Williams Road in Marion.
A complaint filed in the District Court of Perry County alleges that Childs attempted to commit murder by shooting a man “in the thigh area” with intent to cause death or serious physical injury.
The incident was investigated by the Marion Police Department, which classified the offense as a felony assault with a firearm.
Court documents indicate that a warrant for Childs’ arrest was executed based on probable cause established at the time of the original investigation. Bond in the case has been set at $60,000. As of press time, Childs remains in custody at the Perry County Jail.
