Selma man charged with harassment for threatening Perry County officer

A Selma man has been charged with harassment after allegedly threatening to kill a Perry County law enforcement officer.

Ottis Renard Williams, 40, of Thomas Drive, Selma, was arrested April 30 and charged with harassment, a Class C misdemeanor, according to Perry County District Court records.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Perry County District Court, Williams, on or about April 18, directed abusive or obscene language at Officer Michael Wesley with the intent to harass, annoy, or alarm, and made a verbal threat to kill the officer.

The complaint states Williams threatened to carry out the threat, causing Wesley to fear for his safety and the safety of his family.

As of April 30, Perry County District Court records listed the defendant’s status as jailed. Bond was set at $1,000.
