Marion man charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor

A Marion man has been arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a child in connection with an incident this spring involving a teenage student, according to the Moundville Police Department.

Da’Shawn LaTrell Cole, 21, of Marion, was arrested June 25.

Police said the charge stems from an April incident in which Cole allegedly picked up a student who had left a Hale County school during the day. Police said an investigation followed and led to his arrest.

Cole was taken to the Hale County Jail and held on a $3,000 bond, police said.

Police said the arrest should serve as a warning that adults without legitimate business should not be on school property, and that officers and school officials have an obligation to protect students.
