Callan JMB announces $28 million in pharmaceutical equipment for Atlas Complex

Callan JMB Inc. has signed an initial purchase order with TRUKING for pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment for the Atlas Complex in Marion, the company announced Oct. 8.

The company said it expects to make a $500,000 down payment toward about $28 million in equipment planned for installation at the complex.

The initial deployment is being coordinated with development of the planned 90,000-square-foot Marion 9 manufacturing facility at the Atlas Complex, the company said. The facility is intended to support U.S. production of pharmaceutical products affected by critical supply shortages.

TRUKING, an international supplier of pharmaceutical equipment, will build the equipment at its plants in China and ship it to Alabama, where Callan JMB will assemble and install it, according to the release. Callan JMB said it plans a dedicated assembly team for the work.

The arrangement also provides for Callan JMB to serve as a North American distributor and assembly provider for TRUKING equipment, including for other planned pharmaceutical plants and commercial customers, the company said.

The company expects about nine months to build the equipment and six to nine months to build the facility. Initial production is targeted before the end of 2027, subject to construction, equipment delivery and installation, commissioning, validation and regulatory requirements, the release said.

The planned production would pair active pharmaceutical ingredients the company expects Walker’s Pharmaceuticals to supply with fill-finish work at the Atlas Complex, according to the release.
