The Family Guidance Center of Alabama’s Kids and Kin program has scheduled free classes for grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives raising children at the Marion-Perry County Public Library, 202 Washington St., through the end of the year.
The schedule: A Guide to Safe Sleep for Infants, Tuesday, Oct. 13; Peer Pressure, From Toddlers to Teens, Monday, Oct. 26; How to Potty Train Children with Special Needs, Monday, Nov. 9; Financial Literacy 101: Curriculum for Kids and Teens, Monday, Nov. 23; APT, Multisensory Learning Techniques: What Is It?, Monday, Dec. 7; and Laughter is the Best Medicine, Monday, Dec. 14.
Kids and Kin offers two trainings a month, in person and online. Relative caregivers who enroll in its Voluntary Certification Program receive a free health and safety item, earn $50 in toys and educational materials for completing six trainings plus CPR and first aid, and earn $100 more for six additional trainings, according to the program’s flyer.
