The Ala-Tom Resource Conservation and Development Council has awarded the Lincolnite Club Inc. a $10,000 reimbursement grant toward the second phase of interior renovations at the Marion Nutrition Center, the club announced Tuesday, Oct. 27.
The grant was awarded Oct. 5, according to the club’s announcement. The center is in the Classroom Addition Building on the Lincoln Normal School campus, and the money will go toward interior painting, mold removal, plumbing and restroom repairs, replacement of floor and ceiling tiles, electrical repairs, repairs to doors and windows, and replacement of appliances, lounge furniture, sinks and office supplies as needed.
The first phase of the project replaced the building’s roof, the announcement said.
The center serves meals to senior citizens of all races on weekdays and delivers Meals on Wheels to seniors who cannot come to the center. The City of Marion manages and operates the center under a partnership agreement with the Lincolnite Club, which owns the property; the city uses the building in exchange for in-kind services to the club, the announcement said.
