Two Perry natives, Steadman and Williams, graduated MMI May 11

Second Lt. Steadman earns her commission as an Army officer.

On May 11, Marion Military Institute counted two outstanding Perry County students in its 2024 graduating class: Kristalyn Steadman of Marion and Jalen Williams of Uniontown. Both were members of the Phi Theta Kappa national honor society before earning their associate’s degree.

As a cadet, Steadman held the peer leadership position of Command Sergeant Major in addition to competing on the MMI Tigers cross country and track & field teams. She was also chosen to represent MMI on the 2024 All-Alabama Academic Team. On graduation day, Steadman received her commission as an Army officer, with her parents pinning on her second lieutenant bars in a Chapel ceremony. 2LT Steadman will pursue a career in medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, having earned a Presidential transfer scholarship there.

Enrolled in MMI’s civilian Leadership Education Program, Williams was a recipient of the 2023 Perry County Farmers Federation and Wishik Family Scholarships. At Honors Convocation, he accepted both the MMI Humanities and Philosophy Awards. Williams will attend the University of Alabama on a transfer scholarship.

Jalen Williams, who is bound for the University of Alabama, receives his MMI diploma.
