Willie J. Nelson, Jr. of Marion, age 70, went peacefully to his eternal home on August 11, 2024. He was born on October 2, 1953 to the late Mr. Willie J. Nelson, Sr. and Mrs. Lola Woods Nelson.
He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, Robert A. Woods; two sisters, Vernona and Ramona Nelson; 3 nephews, Kenneth Nelson, Victor Scott and Lonnie Jackson, Jr.
He is survived by 4 loving sisters, Connie Scott, Sharron Nelson, Melanie( Oliver) Hogue and Katringa Lapsley, of Marion, AL. He is also survived by one god son, James B. Walter of Marion, AL. and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and family.
Visitation was held at Melvin Miller Funeral Home, 302 Pickens St. Marion, AL, Friday, August 10 from 11 am- 5 PM. Funeral services was held on August 17th at the Providence Baptist Church located at 206 Alabama Highway 14 with Rev. Dr. Matthew Wilson officiating. Pallbearers were Kendall Nelson, Lionel Nelson, LoZarian Jackson, James Hogue, Kentrae Nelson, and Clarence Phillips. Interment was on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
Willie affectionately known as “Bug” will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
