A Marion father and son are facing serious charges following a violent altercation that left a man severely injured. James Bradley Hobson, 55, and his son, Kevin Chase Hobson, 28, were both arrested on December 31, 2024, and charged with first-degree assault.
According to court filings, the incident occurred on December 29, 2024. James Hobson is accused of severely beating Howard Matyon, an attack described in court records as showing “extreme indifference to the value of human life.”
Kevin Hobson is alleged to have used a 12-gauge shotgun to strike Matyon in the head, causing additional serious physical injuries.
The pair were taken into custody by Perry County law enforcement.
Both are being held on $30,000 bond. The case has been assigned to District Judge Robert D. Bryant.
