Marion man charged with first-degree assault, theft of firearm

A Marion man faces three felony charges following an alleged assault and theft at a Valero gas station in Marion on April 19, 2026.

According to a complaint filed in Perry County District Court on April 24, 2026, Darvion Jamil Richardson, 32, of Marion, allegedly struck a person with closed fists, a handgun, and by kicking, causing serious physical injury. The complaint states Richardson acted with intent to disfigure or permanently disable the victim, under circumstances demonstrating extreme indifference to human life and creating a grave risk of death.

Richardson is also charged with second-degree theft of property for allegedly stealing a black Keltec handgun, a firearm described as a rifle or shotgun, and other property belonging to the victim at or near the gas station. A third charge alleges that Richardson broke into and entered the victim’s vehicle with the intent to commit a felony or theft.

As of April 24, court records list Richardson’s status as jailed, with bond set at $60,000.
