Francis Marion’s Donnita Tucker earns Aspirations in Computing Educator award

Francis Marion School recently congratulated staff member, Donnita Tucker for being a 2022 NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Educator Award recipient. Tucker was among 138 applicants and was selected from a pool of potential recipients from the continental U.S., Canada, the Virgin Islands, and Guam. The AIC Educator Award celebrates exemplary formal and informal educators who support women, genderqueer, and non-binary students in 9th through 12th grades, in exploring interests in computing and technology. Notably, the award recognizes educators who promote gender equity in the technological sphere. More than 800 educators have been recognized since 2011, and have received over $236,000 in professional development funding. This funding goes towards improving computing education skills, to encourage further support for students interested in technology.
