Extension service sponsoring pesticide applicator certification course January 18

Agricultural producers needing a private applicator license are invited to a pesticide meeting on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, starting at 8:00 a.m., at the Black Belt Research and Extension Center (BBREC). The BBREC is located at 60 County Road 944 in Marion Junction, AL 36759. Registration is required by January 17. Contact the Perry County Extension office for more details on the meeting or to register at (334) 683-6888.

The meeting will include pesticide training on several topics including label comprehension and safety. A test will be administered following the training to producers applying for a private applicator license. A score of 70 or better is needed to pass the test. After passing the test, a producer can apply for a license with the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI). The producer will need to submit the license application and a license fee to the ADAI.

A private pesticide applicator is a certified applicator that produces an agricultural commodity on owned, rented, or leased property or on an employer’s agricultural property. The private applicator license is valid for 3 years.

If you have any questions concerning the meeting, please contact the Extension Office. Register by January 17 with the Perry County Extension Office if you plan to attend by calling (334) 683-6888.
