Food, live music on the menu for Perry County Historical Society’s annual Low Country Boil this weekend

The Perry County Historical and Preservation Society’s much-anticipated Low Country Boil is this weekend in Marion. The event, which is one of the Historical Society’s largest fundraisers of the year, has been an annual tradition for decades.

The meal, as always, features a traditional South Carolina Lowcountry Boil, with shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes. Plates without shrimp or sausage are often available upon request. Tickets also include your choice of a variety of homemade desserts.

There will also be live acoustic music performed by Selma’s River Wind Band, featuring Larry Hobson, Louis Flournoy, Sheila Ferrell, and Jerry Ross.

Come to the Marion Female Seminary, located at 204 West Monroe Street in Marion, between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. and join in the fun. Tickets are available in advance by calling 334-292-0319 or at the door. Adults: $20, Students: $15, and children under 5 are admitted free of charge. Take-out orders are also available.
