Two 2023 FMHS seniors awarded Annie Essex memorial scholarships

Le’Naya Essex
Kennedi Sims

In loving memory of the late Annie Essex, her family and friends initiated the Annie Essex Memorial Scholarship Fund in 2005 to award scholarships to graduating seniors within the Perry County School System. Continued implementation of this program will enable us to keep Annie’s legacy of service and generosity alive, as well as promote, foster, and increase educational opportunities for students within the Perry County School System. The Annie Essex Memorial Scholarship Committee is hereby elated to announce its 2023 scholarship recipients. In recognition of academic excellence, community service, citizenship participation, commitment to higher education, and promotion of Annie Essex’s legacy of service and generosity to help others, the Scholarship Committee will award two (2) 2023 academic scholarships.

Le’Naya Essex of Francis Marion High School won this year’s academic achievement scholarship. Kennedi Sims, also of Francis Marion High School, won this year’s complimentary scholarship.

There were no participating students from Robert C. Hatch High School this year.

“Your supporting participation in the 2023 Annie Essex Memorial Program was greatly appreciated. Thank you!” said The Annie Essex Memorial Scholarship Committee and members of the Essex family.
