Marion woman charged with making threatening Facebook posts, defaming victim, body-shaming

Marchae Wright has been formally charged with harassing communications, according to recent court filings in Perry County. The case was filed on September 18, 2023, following Wright’s arrest on the same day.

The charges against Wright stem from an incident that reportedly occurred on August 6, 2023.

According to court documents, Wright is charged with making social media posts sharing “pictures with slurs body-shaming” the alleged victim in the case, and also using derogatory language to refer to the victim in Facebook Live videos, along with making criminal accusations against the same alleged victim. Wright is also charged with sending threatening private messages to the alleged victim through Facebook Messenger.

Wright’s bond has been set at $1,000. The case has been assigned to District Judge Robert D. Bryant of Perry County.
