Deacon James F. May, a U.S. military veteran and former mayor of Uniontown, Alabama, has passed away at the age of 85. He was born Feb. 10, 1938. He died Jan. 12, 2024 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa leaving the community to mourn a respected leader and public servant.
Visitation for Deacon May was held on January 19, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Phillip White’s Julia L. White Funeral Home, located at 322 North Street, Uniontown, AL. Additional visitation took place the following day, January 20, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at First Baptist Church, 20 Cahaba Road, Uniontown, AL, where the memorial and funeral services were also held. The memorial service commenced at 12:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM at the same location.
