A Perry County property owner is suing the companies who own and operate a major natural gas line for damage following a 2022 explosion here.
Mary Katharine Avery, who owns the property near Woodlawn Church where the explosion happened, filed suit against Southern Natural Gas Company, L.L.C., Kinder Morgan, Inc., and Kinder Morgan SNG Operator, L.L.C. and other related entities, alleging negligence, wantonness, trespass, nuisance, inverse condemnation, and strict liability.
The complaint, filed in Perry County Circuit Court, arises from a pipeline explosion on Avery’s property in February 2022, causing extensive damage and contamination. Avery seeks compensatory and punitive damages, legal costs, and further relief deemed just by the court.
