Environmental Assessment for the expansion of the airport terminal area at Greensboro Municipal Airport (7A0)

The Greensboro Municipal Airport, in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) and the FAA Order 1050.1G, Environmental Impacts: Policies and Procedures, has completed an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed expansion of the airport terminal area at Greensboro Municipal Airport (7A0).

Copies of the document are available here: https://www.cityofgreensboroalabama.com/. Hard copies of the EA are available for review at the Greensboro Municipal Airport Information Desk located at Airport Loop Road, Greensboro, AL 36744.

Written comments on the EA are requested from interested parties and will be accepted no later than July 11, 2026. Your comments may be provided in writing, or via email to Mr. Eric Tomasovic at: Eric.tomasovic@faa.gov or via postal service to: 10 Canebrake Blvd., Suite 100, Flowood, MS 39232. Please make your comments as soon as possible as they relate to the proposed action.

Before including your address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information in your comment, be advised that your entire comment including your personal identifying information may be made publicly available at any time. While you can ask us in your comment to withhold from public review your personal identifying information, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.

All substantive comments will be carefully reviewed. In accordance with Federal Regulations, the FAA will not decide whether to implement the proposed project or take an alternative action until the review process is completed.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP): AVIATION TRAINING PROVIDER

Marion Military Institute (MMI)

Academic Year 2026–2027

Marion Military Institute is a two-year, state-supported, degree-granting educational institution located in Marion, Alabama. As part of their program of instruction, MMI offers flight training to three categories of students:

  1. a. One-Year Students: Normally one year in length. Their requirement is to demonstrate flight aptitude to maximize chances of gaining a pilot slot from their service academy. Private Pilot License (PPL) is not a part of their requirement.
  2. b. Two-Year Students: Civil aviation-tracked students to obtain a PPL during their two years at MMI. These students will also pursue additional hours in preparation for additional ratings.
  3. c. Two-Year Aviation Degree Students: We anticipate beginning a program for an aviation associate’s degree in applied science. The requirement for these students is to obtain a PPL during their first year at MMI, then progressively work on additional certifications in the following terms (instrument, commercial, etc.).

MMI also offers an introductory summer Aim High Flight Academy (AHFA) program that includes both ground school and 12-15 hours of in-flight instruction, culminating in solo flights for participating students.

MMI is seeking a qualified aviation training provider capable of delivering comprehensive FAA Part 141–certified instruction in support of Marion Military Institute’s aviation programs for Academic Year 2026–2027. The selected contractor will be responsible for providing aircraft, instructors, simulators, curriculum support, training records, and operational oversight necessary to meet MMI’s aviation training objectives.
