Ethel Benson Tinker

Ethel Benson Tinker, known as “Babe,” died August 6 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa at the age of 80.
She was born Feb. 23, 1942 in Hale County to the late Clara and Joe Fields. She confessed Christ at an early age and later joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Akron.
Survivors include four children, Albert Benson of Moundville, Leodis (Barbara) Benson of Akron, Carolyn Madison, and Dorothy Benson, both of Tuscaloosa; a brother, Walter (Dorothy) Jackson of Stewart; a devoted cousin, Obadiah (Virginia) Benson of Sawyerville; sixteen grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 13 at First Baptist Church in Akron with Pastor Billy Thornton, church pastor; Pastor Robert Johnson, Eulogist; Sister Brenda Bester, Mistress of Order; and Washington and Paige Mortuary directing.
