Cora B. Grant died April 11 at Perry County Nursing Home at the age of 83. 

She was born July 28, 1936 in Hale County to the late Rosie Ward and Charles “O.D.” Johnson. 

She confessed Christ at an early age. She joined Eagle Grove Baptist Church in Marion when she returned from Los Angeles, Calif. 

She was united in marriage to Willie Gant, Jr. on Dec. 29, 1979 and they remained happily married until his death on March 18, 2014. 

She is preceded in death by a nephew, Curtis Benson; a stepson, Roderick Gant; a sister, Mary Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Stella Ward. 

Survivors include a stepson, Michael Gant of California; a stepdaughter, Robinette Gant of California; two brothers, Obadiah (Virginia) Benson of Sawyerville and Arthur Ward of California; four special nieces, Merlon Johnson, Helen Mayo, and Larnice Jackson of California and Lakethia Benson (Willie) Bryant of Akron; three nieces, Lueguster (George) Mason of Tuscaloosa, Ella Benson, and Rosetta (Albert) Wiggins of Sawyerville; a nephew, Nicholas (Bliss) Benson of Fultondale; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews; two special caregivers, Mary T. Bates and Cynthia Bailey; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Greensboro with Pastor Bailey Dawson officiating and Washington and Paige Mortuary directing.
